On Monday I peeled an orange for the first time. It made me think of that game "Never have I ever." Here are some other rather commonplace things that I have never done:1. Mowed the lawn2. Broken a bone3. Got my passport4. Been to Disneyland or World5. Got a manicure or pedicure6. Been to a... Continue Reading →
Greeting cards are a racket
Cards are ridiculously expensive. So you know what I do? I make photo cards and go pick them up at Walgreen's an hour later. Photo cards are usually $1.33 with the discount of the week. And they're a lot harder to throw away with the personalized letter and pictures.
Parable
My brother read this parable while at Jimmy John's the other day and it is a great reminder of work/life balance. I don't work anymore, so rather than feeling useless because of it, this story is a good reminder that I'm doing what people work so hard to do - spending time with the ones... Continue Reading →
Young friends
The companions of our childhood always possess a certain power over our minds which hardly any later friend can obtain. They know our infantine dispositions, which, however they may be afterwards modified, are never eradicated; and they can judge of our actions with more certain conclusions as to the integrity of our motives. ~Frankenstein by... Every Valentine's Day, Steve sends flowers me flowers at work. This year, I'm as big as a whale and moody enough to be in an asylum. On Thursday night, I decided I would leave work early on Friday to come home and finish painting Holden's room. Steve said, "uh oh" and when I asked him what... Continue Reading →
Being personal
It's no secret that I have a real potty mouth. Sure, if you just read my blog and don't know me in person, it's not THAT terrible. But in person, I pepper my language with colorful words quite frequently. For affect, you know. It's not that I don't know any other words to use, it... Continue Reading →
Water boy
On an unseasonably warm January day, I took Brandon to the park. It's only a half mile away, so I strap him into his stroller and we walk there. I parked the stroller and we walked into the sand and up onto the big toy. We were playing for a few minutes before I looked... Continue Reading →
