Significance

High in the clouds, I stare for a moment,
marveling at the intricacies of these clouds,
then thinking of all the other clouds, elsewhere,
I have never seen and never will.
And then I think of other places and things
that are also spectacular that are so separate
from me, and suddenly, I feel so insignificant.

But then I look down at this growing boy
next to me, playing with trains,
squealing in delight and I think
that even though my world is small
and my impact tiny, I can make this
little corner of mine happy and beautiful.
After all, it is manageable on this scale.
